Plus Size Bodysuits

Plus size bodysuits need the same thing plus size bras need: engineering that accounts for the proportions of a larger frame and a fuller bust, not a scaled-up version of a smaller-size pattern. The bust section needs to work as a real bra — correct wire length, adequate cup height, firm band — and the body needs to be proportioned for a larger torso and hip, with a gusset that closes cleanly without pulling.

What to look for

In a smooth-line bodysuit for under tailored clothing: a plunge or low neckline that clears the garment worn over it, a flat-closed gusset that doesn't show as a line under trousers, and a bust section that provides equivalent support to a good underwired bra in the same cup size. In a fashion bodysuit for evenings: lace and fabric detail, comfortable straps, and the same functional bust support underneath the aesthetic.

Check cup sizing carefully — some bodysuits use S/M/L/XL sizing for the body with a separate cup insert, which doesn't account for larger cup sizes adequately. The best options at D cup and above have actual bra-sized cup construction with individual cup and band sizing.
