How to Wash Lingerie

How To Wash Lingerie the Right Way

3 Easy Steps to ensure longevity and preserve your bras.

  1. Hand wash your bras in cold or warm water.

  2. Use a delicate detergent such as Brava's favourite lingerie wash: Dirt Delicate Wash, made from pure essential oils to create a calming blend of floral, earthy and Marine notes.

  3. Drip dry.

It’s important to read the care labels on bras and most bras do have the same care requirements. They prefer to be hand washed in cold water and drip dried as this will prolong their life.

If you choose to wash your bras in a washing machine the underwire can bend and pop out from its casing (also resulting in damage to your washing machine). The hooks may rip the fabric, and moulded fabrics can dent. Harsh detergents can bleach vibrant colours and degrade the lace and elastic.  Using a washing machine will likely void the manufacturer’s warranty. Hand washing your bras is vital for their protection and longevity.

Customer Tip: "I do my bra washing in the shower and hang them on my rail. By the time I come home from work, they're dry and ready to wear again".

How Long Do Bras Live?

Bras that are treated with care should last one to two years when rotated with three or four other bras. Try not to wear the same bra two days in a row, it will give the fabric time to recover.

Storing Your Lingerie

Putting your lingerie haphazardly into drawers can bend your beautiful bras out of shape. Storing lingerie properly helps it look good for longer. You can fold each of your bras in the centre and stack them vertically beside each other. For moulded bras, fold them in half with one cup inside the other.
