Strapless Bras

A strapless bra for a larger bust is one of the hardest fitting challenges in lingerie. The straps — which provide 20% of a bra's support in a standard bra — are absent. The entire job of lift, containment, and staying-in-place falls to the band and the cup construction alone. At D cup and above, this requires a specific engineering approach that most strapless bras simply don't have.

Why most strapless bras don't work at larger cup sizes

A strapless bra that rolls down is almost always a band problem, not a cup problem. The band needs to be firm enough to grip the torso and resist the downward pull of the bust — a band that's even slightly too large will migrate down regardless of what the cups are doing. The second issue is cup height: a strapless cup needs to be taller than a standard cup to contain breast tissue that would otherwise overflow at the top without the directional support of straps. Many strapless bras fail at larger cups simply because the cup isn't tall enough.

The fix: start with a band that feels slightly firm when you first put it on. It will stretch with wear. The cup should fully contain the breast from the bottom of the underwire to the top of the cup without any overflow. Silicone grip on the inside of the band is helpful but is not a substitute for the right band size — it should hold the bra in position, not stop it from falling entirely.
