As the band increases (12JJ, 14JJ, 16JJ), the cup volume increases correspondingly — a 16JJ is significantly larger in cup volume than a 12JJ, even though the cup letter is the same. This is one reason why fitting guidance from someone who fits JJ cup regularly is valuable — the numerical relationship between band and cup size is not intuitive, and getting it right matters more at this size than at smaller ones.
