An unlined bra has no foam or fabric lining inside the cup — the cup itself is the garment you wear against your skin. At their best, unlined bras are the lightest, most breathable, and most beautiful option in a bra wardrobe. They're ideal for warmer months, for women who run hot, or for anyone who wants their bra to feel like as little as possible while still providing shape and support.

What to expect from an unlined bra at a larger cup size

Unlined bras show more natural breast shape — including nipple outline — than lined or moulded styles. This is a personal preference and entirely a matter of what you're wearing and what you want. Under a thick knit or structured fabric it's a non-issue; under a thin jersey or silk blouse it may be. A lightly-lined version (a single layer of microfibre inside the cup rather than moulded foam) sits between unlined and fully moulded, and is worth knowing about as a middle-ground option.

The support in an unlined bra comes from the cup construction and the band — not from any padding. At D–F cup, a well-made unlined bra provides excellent lift and shape. At G cup and above, the cup construction needs to be genuinely engineered: multi-section sewn cups with structured fabric, not stretch lace alone.
