Bra cup sizes explained
In Australian and UK sizing, cup sizes run D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K and KK, and each letter is one cup size up from the last. Brava fits every one of them, in bands 6 to 24.
The cup size ladder
Most women we fit wear a bigger cup than DD, yet many stores stop there. Tap a cup to shop it.

How to find your cup size
You don't need a tape measure. Start with the bra you wear now, check the band first, then the cups.
Put it on properly
- Lean forward so your breasts fall into the cups.
- Put the straps over your shoulders and fasten the loosest hook.
- Lean forward again and jiggle your bust while holding the underwires.
- Adjust the straps so they're taut, not tight.
Check the band
- It should feel snug and sit level across your back.
- Rides up at the back? It's too big. Go down a band and up a cup.
Check the cups
- Your breasts should be fully held, with no spilling, cutting in or gaping.
- Spilling over the top, under your arms or out the bottom? Go up a cup.
- Wires sitting on breast tissue? Go up a cup.
- Wrinkles or empty space in the cup? Go down a cup.

Your cup depends on your band
A cup letter on its own doesn't tell you how big a bust is. The cup grows with the band, so a 10D holds much less than a 16D. Step the band down and the cup up, and you keep the same cup volume.
These are sister sizes: the same cup volume on a different band. See every equivalent in our sister sizing guide.
It's normal to change cup size
For a long time DD was the largest cup most stores made, so it still sounds big. It isn't. Most women we fit have been wearing a band that's too loose and a cup that's too small. The letter goes up, the band comes down, and the bra finally does its job.
Why we don't use a tape measure
A tape measure can't measure volume, and breast shape, firmness and even your breathing change the reading. Brava's founders, Maxine and Lin, have been fitting bras since they opened Brava in 2006. They tried six online bra calculators on themselves, and the answers were all over the place.
A fitter who doesn't reach for a tape measure is a sign of experience, not a shortcut.
Common questions
How do I find my cup size?
Start with the bra you wear now. Check the band first: if it rides up, go down a band and up a cup. Then check the cups: spilling over or wires sitting on breast tissue means a bigger cup, wrinkles or gaps mean a smaller one. A Brava fitting is the quickest way to be sure.
What are the bra cup sizes in order?
In Australian and UK sizing: D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K, KK. Each letter is one cup size up from the one before.
Is DD bigger than E?
No. DD comes first, then E. E is one cup size above DD and two above D.
Are Australian and UK cup sizes the same?
Yes, the cup letters are the same. Only the band number changes: an Australian 12 is a UK 34. US and European cup letters differ from DD up, so use our bra size converter.
Can I work out my cup size with a tape measure?
Not reliably. A tape measure can't measure volume, and calculators often put women in a band that's too big and a cup that's too small. Our fitters fit by eye and by how the bra feels.
What is a sister size?
Sister sizes hold the same cup volume on a different band. Go down a band and up a cup, or up a band and down a cup: a 10GG, 12G and 14FF are sister sizes.
What is the biggest bra cup size?
Brava fits D to KK cup. Some brands also make L and LL, and our bra size converter covers up to LL.
